Type Locality and Naming

After the village of Akmechet, Southwest Tajikistan. M.R. Jalilov, 1968 (190, p. 43). Stratotype at Chorokh Pass, Babatag Ridge, 3 km northwest of Akmechet village. Included in the Tagarin Horizon (56; 362; 383; 452).

Synonym: Akmechet Suite, Акмечетская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Greenish-gray sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), gray limestones with layers of white gypsum and raspberry clays in the middle part. Thickness 46m.


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Chorrokh Suite

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Gazdagan Fm

Regional extent

Babatag Ridge.
